History

The original part of the Inn, now the bar area, was built in the 1500’s and started out as 2 quarry cottages, quarrying stone for the Barrington estate. It was turned into a coaching inn at some point in the 1700’s and extended to accommodate travellers using, the now A40, which would have been the main route between London, the west country and Wales.

During this time, it was named the Barrington New Inn and provided an essential stopping point for horse and coaches and more recently the motor car.

In the early 1960’s the estate sold The Barrington New Inn to Jeremy Taylor who was a horse master and had worked on many films including Lawrence of Arabia, a Winters Tale and The Man for all Seasons, as homage to his career in the film industry he changed the name of the inn to The Inn for All Season and owned it for many years.

The inn remains largely unchanged, whilst providing the conveniences of modern living. It is currently owned by Edward and Melanie Hillier. Melanie was born in Northleach and her grandfather worked as a groomsman on the Barrington Estate.

EAT

The Inn for All Seasons serves locally sourced, fresh ingredients every day. Our seasonal menus offer the finest dishes with ingredients from the neighbouring Little Barrington Estate and local food producers. Fish is delivered daily from Devon and Cornwall. All lovingly prepared by our classically trained chefs.

Seasonal & Locally Produced

We work with local farmers, growers and purveyors to source outstanding quality products and incorporate these seasonal produce into our menus.

Local, seasonal, fresh produce, cooked creatively and well is at the heart of a good restaurant. Using ingredients at their peak and preparing them with respect allows us to capture the essence of the season and bring it straight to your table.

We are spoilt for choice in the Cotswold’s with so many brilliant local producers to work with Barrington venison & game from our neighbouring estate, locally produced artisan cheeses & freshly baked breads.

The result is food that is honest, straightforward and pays homage to this outstanding part of the United Kingdom we are so privileged to call home.

Whether an intimate occasion, a celebration dinner or entertaining corporate guests, we will deliver the best dining experience.

Meet with Friends & Family

The Inn for All Seasons has been a popular place to meet and eat or enjoy a thirst-quenching drink for nearly two hundred years. The open fires and relaxed atmosphere remain largely unchanged and are reminiscent of a bygone age.

Avoid the hustle and bustle of Burford; where it is almost impossible to park. Although our car park is invariable busy we always have ample parking for passing visitors, we can even accommodate large coaches by prior appointment.

Weekends are particularly busy and if you want to dine it is always advisable to make a reservation.

As well as excellent food our bar also boasts a small but excellent selection of cask ales. Butty Bach from the Why Valley Brewery and Tribute from St Austell are two particular favourites.
