Seasonal produce, locally sourced

Matthew, Heather & Head Chef Justin are all agreed that local, seasonal, fresh produce, cooked creatively and well is at the heart of a good restaurant.

We are spoilt for choice in the Cotswold’s with so many brilliant local producers to work with - Barrington venison & game from our neighboring estate, locally produced artisan cheeses & freshly baked breads.

Just up the road is Upton Smokery who supply us with smoked meats & fish. There’s also an abundance of fantastic local produce from our surrounding farmers & the odd allotment!

Matthew's food ethos

  • Our kitchen has a depth of tradition that is very noticeable throughout all our dishes.
  • The locally sourced meats,poultry and game will all be cooked to your liking as well as letting our Michelin trained chefs put their own touches and twists on them.
  • We specialise in fresh fish, seafood and shellfish from the south coast of England and Ireland. This has built into a great following and reputation for preparing and cooking fresh fish the way you like it to be served - plain or fancy.

Although we’re over 80 miles from the sea we are renowned for our fabulous fish board. This is thanks to Matthew’s past links to Brixham fisherman Martin. You can choose from the freshest fish & shellfish in the area, all delivered on a daily basis direct from Devon & Cornwall

Children are very welcome and we fully understand that they can sometimes be our most discerning customers!  

Many of the dishes on our main menu can be ordered in smaller portions and Justin, our Head Chef, is more than happy for special requests - providing he has the ingredients in the kitchen! You can look forward to a warm welcome and delicious food every time
